  • The Doctrine of Ordination

    Those of you who were present last week in our AM worship witnessed the ordination of Mr. Dean Abbott to the office of Ruling Elder and those of you present tonight will witness the ordination of Mr. Trey Jasso to the office of Teaching Elder (sidebar: In the Presbyterian Church in America, Ruling Elders are elders who are not vocational ministers whereas TEs are vocational ministers and tasked with the regular preaching and administration of the sacraments. Both, however, are elders and worthy of the same honor and submission). When it comes to our practice of ordination, we chart a middle course between the practices of the Roman Catholic church (high church) and the evangelical church (low church).
